Abstract: Nosocomial infection in Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is associated with increased mortality, morbidity, and length of stay. The most common types in SICUs are bloodstream, urinary, respiratory tract, and surgical site infection. During hospitalization, patient is exposed to pathogens through different sources environment, healthcare staff, and other infected patients. Multidrug resistant (MDR) bacteria are common among intensive care unit (ICU) patients.
